to advance mutual security interests

U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Richard Thresher, U.S. Africa Command senior enlisted leader, speaks with Botswana Defense Force non-commissioned officers as part of a multi-country trip to the Southern Africa region from Nov. 17-23. “The Botswanan Defense Force is an excellent example of a military with a strong, professional non-commissioned officer corps,” said Thresher. “I look forward to continuing the strong relationship forged through the African Enlisted Development Strategy.”

Strengthening the partnership and addressing common challenges are key tenants in U.S. Africa Command’s African Enlisted Development Strategy, which enabled Lazaar’s participation in the course that focused on non-commissioned officer development and leadership training in a multinational environment.

O.B Akwa, former chief of defense staff, as part of a two-day visit Feb. 23-24. “We are improving out military ties through exchanges and Non-Commissioned Officer development. It’s important we grow our partnership with Ghana to advance shared security goals,” Townsend said.

Richard Thresher, command senior enlisted leader, U.S. Africa Command, meets with Warrant Officer Class One (WO1) Elijah Koranga, Kenya Defence Forces Sergeant Major, at the Kenya Defence Forces headquarters Dec. 15. As part of the commander’s African Enlisted Development Strategy (AEDS), Thresher focused his trip on the top Kenyan non-commissioned officers (NCO) responsible for developing NCOs within the Kenya Defence Forces.
