U.S. Marines train with Burundi National Defense Force
U.S. Marines with Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force Africa shared their knowledge and experience with members of the Burundian National Defense Force in Bujumbura, Burundi.

Bonnie Skinner, Combined Joint Task Force, Horn of Africa senior enlisted leader at the Parachutist Training in Bujumbura, Burundi. Sgt. Maj. Skinner is here to observe Marines from U.S. Marine Corps Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force (SPMAGTF) Africa who are sharing training methods and best practices with members of the BNDF during the fourth week of a 10-week training course that covers various elements of operations and logistics.

Members of the Burundian National Defense Force (BNDF) search for and identify simulated IEDs using metal detectors, sickles, and visual clues. The BNDF are in the fourth week of a 10-week training course at the Parachutist Camp sharing best practices with the Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force (SPMAGTF) Africa. SPMAGTF is specifically trained to support U.S. and partner interests throughout the United States Africa Command area of responsibility and takes part in bilateral and multilateral training exercises with regional partners. The unit has been training armed forces around Africa as well as providing continued assistance in U.S. operations on foreign soil.
