AFRICOM Commander Engages with African Leaders

Marine Corps Gen. Thomas D. Waldhauser engaged with 21 defense attaches and the African Union Ambassador to the United States, Her Excellence Dr. Arikana Chihombori-Quao, in a wide-ranging discussion at the Africa House, in Washington D.C. Waldhauser discussed U.S. strategies pertaining to defense, Africa, and common challenges on the continent. He also highlighted the importance of military-to-military engagements and the focus on strengthening relationships and building partner capacity.

In continuing a relationship of more than 200 years, the visit allowed the command an opportunity to engage Tunisian partners for discussions and demonstrations on how U.S.-Tunisia defense engagements have advanced Tunisia’s military operational and capacity and contributions to regional security.
