Welcome to U.S. Africa Command
In-processing personnel will be assigned a sponsor by the gaining directorate. Sponsors are responsible for in-processing personnel both prior to and upon arrival, and the Joint Reception office is available to assist for specific inquiries such as requesting the most recent version of the AFRICOM newcomers checklist.
Incoming personnel will contact with their sponsor for the latest COVID-19 travel guidance.
Upon arrival, sponsors assist in-processing personnel with three separate in-processing checklists from the Stuttgart Garrison, AFRICOM and their respective directorate.
Sponsors will initiate in-processing for incoming AFRICOM personnel; prior to arrival sponsors may begin the process for establishing network access.
AFRICOM is a tenant organization of U.S. Army Garrison Stuttgart, which provides all logistical support (housing, furnishings, medical, dental, etc). All AFRICOM personnel are required to complete garrison in-processing. For those inbound to AFRICOM, please visit the garrison's relocation assistance program page.
Directorate checklists will outline administrative requirements, such as DTS, GPC, official passport, recall roster, etc.
There are a lot of moving pieces and logistical challenges - from deciding what to pack and what to store; booking and executing travel for both families and pets; finding a place to live; planning monetary expectations like upfront housing and travel expenses - but it's well worth it! AFRICOM is a great place to serve and Stuttgart is a fantastic place to live.
