Exercise African Lion 19 Commences in Morocco, Tunisia

Approximately 1,100 U.S. military personnel have arrived in the Kingdom of Morocco to take part in exercise AFRICAN LION 19. This is an annually-scheduled, combined multilateral exercise designed to improve interoperability and mutual understanding of each nations’ tactics, techniques and procedures while demonstrating the strong bond between the nations’ militaries. Exercise AFRICAN LION 19 is led by U.S. Marine Corps Forces Europe and Africa and sponsored by U.S. Africa Command and will include military training in command-post activities and counter-violent extremist organization tactical training.
African partners visit NCO Leadership Center of Excellence

The African countries of Malawi, Liberia, Ghana and Botswana, specifically their top enlisted leaders, spent the day March 11 touring the NCO Leadership Center of Excellence receiving briefings and learning about enlisted education.

Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of African Affairs Tibor P. Nagy and U.S. Marine Gen. Thomas D. Waldhauser, commander of United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), met with Ethiopian leaders in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Nov. 28.

NY National Guard Hosts South African Defense Partners to plan engagements

NEW YORK -- South African National Defense Force and Department of Defense officials locked down plans for joint U.S./South African military training in 2019 during a three-day meeting November 6-8, 2018 at Fort Hamilton.
The meeting was hosted by the New York National Guard which has been a partner with the Republic of South Africa since 2003 through the National Guard's State Partnership Program.
