To support the Federal Government of Somalia's continued efforts to degrade al-Shabaab, U.S. Africa Command conducted an airstrike targeting al-Shabaab fighters in the vicinity of Gandarshe, Lower Shebelle Region, Somalia, on Feb. 1, 2019.
More than 2,000 service members from more than 30 African and western partner nations will participate in Flintlock 2019 at multiple locations in Burkina Faso and Mauritania from February 18 – March 1, 2019.

In coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia, U.S. forces conducted an airstrike after al-Shabaab militants attacked Somalian Government forces approximately 40 kilometers northeast of Kismayo, Somalia, on Oct. 1, 2018.
