The North Carolina National Guard Assistant Adjutant General of Sustainment, Brig. Gen. Cristina Moore, attends the Women’s African Military Professional Legal Network brunch to discuss the Department of Defense’s Women, Peace, and Security framework, highlighting the importance of gender integration and equality of African militaries during the 6th iteration of the African Military Law Forum at the Grand Palm Convention Center in Gaborone, Botswana, Aug. 6-10. The legal engagement brought together over 80 African military legal advisors, magistrates, and professionals from 40 countries in Africa to share best professional practices.

The U.S. Africa Command Surgeon held a Health Security Synchronization exchange with the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces (FAR) from May 23-26, 2022, at Mohamed V Military Training Hospital in Rabat, Morocco. Thirty male and female officers from the FAR participated in discussions surrounding UN resolution 1325, gender in military operations, and opportunities to promote female officer development within their armed forces.

US military, Djiboutians champion Women, Peace and Security at co-hosted event

U.S. leadership with the Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA) co-hosted a Women, Peace and Security (WPS) workshop with the Djiboutian Ministry of Women and Family at the Palace Kempinski, Djibouti, May 8, 2022. The participating parties, including members of the Djiboutian Ministry of Women and Family, CJTF-HOA, and U.S. Embassy Djibouti, used the venue to initiate an update to Djibouti’s WPS National Action Plan (NAP). The NAP serves as a binding document for integration of WPS principles, including how they will be prioritized and governed within Djibouti.
