U.S. Africa Command employees contributed to 2012 Combined Federal Campaign-Overseas and in return received a check for their contributions to the Family Support and Youth Program (FSYP).

Major Wilford Toney, AFRICOM 2013 CFC program manager, received the check of $15,983 on behalf of the command from AFRICOM and U.S. European Command CFC campaign coordinator, Samantha Barrett, during a presentation ceremony at the command headquarters June 5, 2013.

“The check is for the Family Support and Youth Program, and the fund comes directly back to the community to help improve morale and welfare and to improve the community,” said Barrett.  “A donor can contribute through CFC-O to FSYP, and 100 percent of that donation comes back through FSYP fund to the community.”

The funds received will, at the commander’s discretion, be used for events such as Easter and Christmas events, packages for spouses of deployed service members.

"These fund will be returned to the locations from which they came including troops that are deployed to Africa at Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa," added Toney.  "As an example Camp Lemonnier and CJTF-HOA used their funds to purchase gym equipment for the deployed troops."

CFC-O allows federal employees stationed overseas to contribute to programs that will directly improve the experience of members living abroad and their families.

This year’s CFC kicks off in September and runs through November 2013.
