AFRICOM Hosts Commanders Conference

Commanders and senior enlisted leaders from AFRICOM's Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine and special operations component commands met in Stuttgart Nov. 17.

STUTTGART, Germany -- Commanders, senior enlisted leaders and staff members from U.S. Africa Command's subordinate commands met in Stuttgart Nov. 17 for the annual AFRICOM Combatant Commanders Conference.

Leaders from the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and special operations components discussed U.S. Africa Command's strategy and military partnerships on the African continent.

"Our work is to enable our African partners.  These are small steps we take, but we're moving in the right direction and the long term efforts will makean impact 20 years from now," said U.S. Army Gen. David Rodriguez, AFRICOM commander.

AFRICOM's subordinate commands set the conditions for security force assistance and exercises with partner nation militaries. They perform detailed planning, provide essential command and control, establish and sustain relationships with the command's partners, and provide assessments to the combatant commander.
