U.S. service members from the Combined Task Force-Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA) gathered with residents of Mikocheni on May 15, 2008 to celebrate the completion of a newly built health clinic.

The Jaypal Singh Babhra Memorial Clinic was completed by U.S. service members of the CJTF-HOA, as part of their efforts to improve security and promote economic stability in the region. The new clinic includes 10 offices, four bathrooms, and a reception area.

The project also included the installation of lights, ceiling fans, and all necessary distribution wiring. Plumbing, drains, and water supplies for bathrooms were also installed, along with two holding tanks. In addition two sanitary manholes were installed and connected to the municipal sewer and water system.

Financial support for the clinic comes from the American people and is part of overall U.S. government direct and multilateral assistance to Tanzania of more than $500 million (over 750 billion Tanzanian shillings) in fiscal year 2008.
