Ongoing Demonstrations in Stuttgart

The "Buendnis gegen Stuttgart 21," alliance against Stuttgart 21, holds three major demonstrations at the Hauptbahnhof and surrounding areas every week (i.e., in the evening hours on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays).

September 23, 2010, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. the "Buendis gegen Stuttgart 21" will conduct a demonstration at the Rathaus located at Marktplatz, in downtown Stuttgart. The demonstration coincides with a Stuttgart City Council meeting scheduled to start at the same time in the Rathaus. Approximately 5,000 people are expected to participate. The purpose of the demonstration is to protest the construction of a new Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof.

On the same day, starting at 6:15 p.m., a second demonstration sponsored by supporters of the Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof construction project, will occur. Supporters will run from the Leuze Mineralbad, located at Am Leuzebad 2, 70190 Stuttgart to the Marktplatz in downtown Stuttgart, where a rally will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Approximately 1,000 runners are expected to participate.
