The Stuttgart military community rallied to support cancer survivors and warriors at the USAG Stuttgart Run 4 Life event at Husky Field Oct. 1, 2010 as part of the Disability Employment Awareness Month activities.

"Cancer Does Not Discriminate," was the hook written in military style type across the purple flyers that hit everyone's email box the week prior.

Runners, speed walkers, strollers and baby strollers were all represented as the community took to the track in solidarity against this disease which has impacted the world over.

With pre-event activities starting at 4 p.m. by midnight miles and miles were covered by participants who came in all ages and sizes. Young children walked, or more often ran and played, right alongside of servicemembers and even a few grandparents.

There was plenty of support for those who participated from vendors selling hot dogs, spaghetti and baked goods to music and local talent performances. Entertainment included Irish Step Dancers, Military K-9 demonstrations, a Capoeira demonstration, cheer teams, dance teams, live music by MaxFracus and Tribal Belly Dancing with Wicked Hips.

In the end, the community had once again gathered to support those who at times can't support themselves and proved that cancer is an enemy we can all fight together.
