U.S. Africa Command completed its annual fundraising campaign in support of charities worldwide as well as the local military community, December 15, 2010.

Personnel at U.S. Africa Command raised more than $300,000 through the Combined Federal Campaign-Overseas (CFC-O), the world's largest workplace charitable drive.

"This year's campaign was a complete success," said Alejandro Holguin, U.S. AFRICOM's 2010 CFC program manager, "We exceeded last year's campaign participations and contributions by 4.08 percent and $16,602.95 respectively."

According to Alejandro, U.S. Africa Command was the only major command that exceeded the previous year figures.

"We were able to defeat the odds presented by an economy with too many uncertainties. When other commands reduced their participation and amount of their contributions, we not only collected more than the amount collected last year but we increased our participation rate considerably," Alejandro added.

The annual campaign features more than 2,300 organizations working to address the many critical needs throughout the world. Many of these charities support reintegration programs for service members overseas, as well as various other programs for veterans, active duty service members, and their families.
