US, Burkina Faso wrap-up Western Accord 2016 planning event

Military Representatives from various African and European countries met for the Western Accord 2016 Final Planning Event in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso March 21-25, finalized details for the upcoming May exercise. WA 2016 is a two-week exercise with regional African partners and their Western allies designed to strengthen partnerships, enhance capacity and capabilities to conduct joint multinational peacekeeping operations in West Africa. U.S. Africa Command, supported by U.S. European and U.S. Strategic Commands, conducted a partner training event with the Mauritanian Air Force in Atar, Mauritania on Wednesday. U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Africa Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTAC) traveled from Vicenza, IT to Atar, Mauritania and conducted ground to air training with Mauritanian Air Force personnel.
