USS Hershel “Woody” Williams, First ESB to Complete Voyage Repair in South Africa

During the scheduled port visit, Hershel “Woody” Williams completed a 14-day maintenance period in Cape Town’s Cruise Terminal. The ship received preventative and preservative repairs to the flight deck safety nets, mission deck, freeboard and superstructure, as well as the insulation and lighting fixtures.

U.S. Army Gen. Stephen Townsend, commander, U.S. Africa Command, wrapped up a two-day visit to Libya, Algeria, and Tunisia, Sept. 27-28. During the visit Gen. Stephen Townsend, commander, U.S. Africa Command, and Amb. Richard Norland, U.S. Special Envoy and Ambassador to Libya, met with interim GNU Prime Minister and Defense Minister Dabaiba in advance of the December elections and to support the country's path toward stability and unity.

Chaplains assigned to U.S. Africa Command held a religious conference from Sept. 20-22, 2021. The conference's purpose was to come together and build their framework and strategies, and coordinate religious support, while looking at U.S. Africa Command's campaign plan outlining the mission of chaplains supporting partners in Africa.
