ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia - Fetsum Alem (far left), audio video technician for the African Union (AU), shows (left to right) Jim Kresge and Gerald Bryza, broadcast engineers from Armed Forces Network Europe, the technical control box for the AU's plenary session room during a visit to the AU headquarters in Addis Ababa on July 24, 2009. Bryza and Kresge were part of a five person team who assessed the communication capabilities of the African Union and offered advice on how the international organization can improve its ability to share information with audiences throughout the world. U.S. Africa Command sent the team to Ethiopia at the request of the U.S. Mission to the African Union as part of a cooperation agreement between the mission and the African Union Commission. In addition to Bryza and Kresge, the team included a third broadcast engineer from the Defense Media Activity in Riverside, California, and representatives from U.S. Africa Command's Outreach Directorate and Office of Public Affairs.
