U.S. airstrikes in support of GNA: Oct 7-10

At the request of, and in coordination with, the Libyan Government of National Accord, U.S. Africa Command conducted precision air strikes against Daesh targets in Sirte, Libya. As a result, the following target was struck by U.S. forces:

Oct. 7:

  1. One enemy fighting position
  2. Daesh resupply point
  3. One enemy fighting position
  4. One enemy fighting position
  5. One enemy fighting position
  6. One enemy fighting position
  7. Four enemy fighting positions
  8. Two enemy fighting positions
  9. Six enemy fighting positions
  10. One enemy fighting position

 

Oct. 8:

  1. Eight enemy fighting positions
  2. Eight enemy fighting positions
  3. One enemy fighting position
  4. Five enemy fighting positions
  5. Two enemy fighting positions
  6. One enemy fighting position
  7. Four enemy fighting positions
  8. One enemy fighting position
  9. One enemy fighting position
  10. Eight enemy fighting positions
  11. Three enemy fighting positions
  12. Nine enemy fighting positions
  13. Five enemy fighting positions
  14. One command and control facility and resupply point
  15. Four enemy fighting positions

Oct. 9:

This airstrike brings the total number of airstrikes in support of Operation Odyssey Lightning, which began Aug. 1, to 261.

The U.S. stands with the international community in supporting the GNA as it strives to restore stability and security to Libya.

These actions, and those we have taken previously, will help deny Daesh a safe haven in Libya from which it could attack the United States and our allies.

U.S. Africa Command strike updates will be posted Monday through Friday and are contingent on activities conducted.
