U.S. Africa Command concluded the main planning conference for Africa Endeavor 2011 in Bamako, Mali January 27, 2011 after four days of deliberation and exercise planning sessions.
The Malian patrol finally reached its objective, a small village north of Gao, following a long drive through the northern territories of vast desert in this Trans-Saharan nation slightly smaller than twice the size of Texas.

A U.S. Army medic assigned to Joint Special Operations Task Force-Trans Sahara explains the daily dosage recommendations of medication to a female villager from the Jiwoyo community as part of triage during a Medical Civil Action Program conducted during the Flintlock 10 exercise in Mali in May, 2010. U.S. Army health care providers assigned to JSOTF-TS gave free medical care and medicine to nearly 400 local residents in the area who suffer from inadequate and lack of medical care.

The event included health care providers from the Malian Ministry of Health and Defense who treated nearly 700 local men, women and children at the Mali Army Noncommissioned Officers Academy outside the city of Segou.
A U.S. Army veterinarian assigned to Joint Special Operations Task Force-Trans Sahara inoculates a goat with dewormer as part of a Veterinary Civil Action Program conducted during the Flintlock 10 exercise in Mali. Both U.S. and Malian veterinarians inoculated nearly 500 cattle and goats belonging to farmers in the Jiwoyo community with dewormer medication.
Centered in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, but with tactical training conducted in Senegal, Mali, Mauritania and Nigeria, Flintlock 10 will run from May 2-23, 2010.
