To support the Federal Government of Somalia’s continued efforts to degrade al-Shabaab, U.S. forces conducted a total of four precision airstrikes targeting al-Shabaab militants in the vicinity of Gandarshe, Somalia, on Dec. 15, 2018. U.S. forces also conducted two precision airstrikes targeting al-Shabaab militants in the vicinity of Gandarshe, Somalia, on Dec. 16, 2018.

U.S. forces conducted an airstrike during a Somali partner forces-led operation against al Shabaab, an al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist group, Sept. 11, 2018, in the central Somali village of Mubaraak, approximately 37 miles west of Mogadishu.
The EECP can quickly deploy forces into theater and establish initial presence from a forward deployed location, often in support of a lead federal agency such as USAID.
