The U.S. response to the challenges in Somalia has been to work with the Federal Government and the Federal Member state administrations, in coordination with the African Union, the United Nations, and other partners working toward a common goal: to support Somali-led efforts to stabilize and rebuild their country along democratic and federal lines.

A joint U.S. Africa Command and Niger military investigation team returned to the village of
Tongo Tongo, Niger on Nov. 12 in order to gain a clearer understanding of the Oct. 4 ambush,
the attack site and the surrounding environment.
A safe, stable, secure and prosperous Africa is an enduring United States interest. Niger is an important partner to the U.S. The United States and Niger have a long-standing bilateral relationship.

The African Partner Outbreak Response Alliance conference held its fourth conference, May 31-June 2, 2017, at the School of Applied Military Health Service compound, Libreville, Gabon. Created as a response to the Ebola Crisis in Africa from 2014-2016, APORA provides a means for African partners to discuss measures to mitigate, detect, and effectively fight future pandemics epidemics on the continent of Africa.
