AFRICOM Funds Humanitarian Mission in Cameroon (3) of (3)

A volunteer nurse teaches people how to properly take their prescriptions during a humanitarian assistance mission led by Cameroonian Soldiers from the Battalion d'Intervention Rapide in Kourgui, Cameroon May 13, 2015.The mission, funded through the U.S. Africa Command Humanitarian and Civic Assistance Program, provided medical assistance and education to more than 1,250 people displaced due to Boko Haram violence.
After fielding questions from the crowd, the Secretary personally thanked more than 200 service members and civilians for their work at U.S. Africa Command.
Central Accord 15 focuses on African and European partnership

Lt. Col. Jonathan Shine, commander, 4th Battalion, 1st Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 1st Armored Division, works with central African military personnel during the preparation phase of Central Accord 2015 in Libreville, Gabon, May 14. Shine and his counterparts developed a plan of action for events taking place during the exercise. CA 15 exercises mission command proficiency for UN peacekeeping operations, develops multinational logistical and communications capabilities, and improves regional ability to command, control and support forward deployed forces. Approximately 400 military personnel from member nations are scheduled to participate in the exercise. A team of approximately 21 Marines, 10 representing the United States, six from Great Britain, and five from Spain, conducted training in countries along the West African coast February through April 2015.

Galipeau, medical planner at the AFRICOM Surgeon's Office, briefs about the command support to Operation United Assistance during a three-day Global Health Engagement (GHE) and Medical Stability Operations (MSO) course held in Stuttgart, Germany. April 27-29, 2015. More than 40 medical experts from U.S. Africa Command, its subordinate commands and the United States attended the course held in Stuttgart, Germany, to build an awareness of the complex set of variables that shape the development of Department of Defense Global Health Engagement (GHE) and Medical Stability Operations (MSO). and to also help medical practitioners here gain an understanding of the key principles to plan and conduct a GHE/MSO activity.
