A Women, Peace and Security seminar was held April 13-14, 2018 in Niamey, Niger in conjunction with Flintlock 2018. Flintlock is U.S. Africa Command's premier and largest annual Special Operations Forces exercise.

U.S. conducts airstrike in support of the Federal Government of Somalia

In coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia, U.S. forces conducted an airstrike destroying an al-Shabaab vehicle-borne improvised explosive device near Jana Cabdalle, Somalia, on April 11, 2018.

In coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia, U.S. Forces conducted an airstrike against Al-Shabaab militants near Jilib, Somalia, on April 5, 2018, killing three terrorists and destroying one vehicle with a mounted heavy machine gun.
Thirty-seven USAID mission civil-military coordinators representing more than 40 countries and agencies across Africa learned about the roles and responsibilities of DoD when in support of USAID missions on the continent.
