The mission was conducted utilizing the only multinational C-17 wing in the world. The wing is comprised of 145 personnel from twelve strategic airlift-capable nations. The framework accepts Air Transportation and Refueling Exchange of Services (ATARES) as well as HAW hours as payment methods for airlift.

U.S. Africa Command Director of Operations U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Joel Tyler and AFRICOM Director of Logistics U.S. Navy Rear Adm. Kevin Jones met with Sahel region leaders, partner military leaders and forces, and U.S. troops during a multi-day trip to Chad, Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger, Feb. 8-12. During the trip, Tyler and Jones met with African and French partners and U.S. leadership in all four countries to reaffirm the command’s ongoing mission, personnel support, and commitment in the region.

U.S. Army General Stephen Townsend, commander, U.S. Africa Command, conducted a two-day visit to Ghana, Feb. 23-24. This was Townsend’s first visit to the country, where he met with Ghanaian leaders and U.S. Embassy personnel in Accra.
Counterparts from U.S. African Command, the Michigan National Guard, and the Armed Forces of Liberia participate in a remote meeting January 20, 2021, as a part of an initiative of U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM)’s Office of Legal Counsel known as Command Advice, Investigations, and Coordination (CAIC, pronounced “cake”). This new program deepens military adherence to the rule of law and facilitates military support to the prosecution of terrorists. It is implemented through a series of multilateral and bilateral engagements, with National Guard units taking the lead on bilateral engagements where partnerships already exist.
