Angolan Armed Forces general visits US, Ohio for first time

The Ohio National Guard hosted Gen. Jaques Raul, Angolan Armed Forces deputy land force commander, along with four other members of the Angolan military, June 2-6, 2019. Raul’s visit to Ohio followed a three-day trip to U.S. Army Africa (USARAF) in Vicenza, Italy. The purpose of the visits was to build U.S.-Angola defense relations, provide an overview of U.S. Army and National Guard defense capabilities, and identify future security cooperation opportunities.

U.S Africa Command joins U.S Government Cyclone Idai Relief Efforts

The President of the United States has directed the Department of Defense to support the international humanitarian relief effort in the Government of the Republic of Mozambique resulting from Cyclone Idai. At the direction of the Secretary of Defense, U.S. Africa Command will respond to U.S. Agency for International Development's (USAID) requests for support and assistance in the flooded region.
Specific skill sets exercised for OE19 include boarding techniques, search and rescue operations, medical casualty response, radio communication, and information management techniques.

U.S. Navy Seabees turnover Ali Oune Medical Clinic to Djiboutian officials

U.S. Navy Seabees from Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 1, assigned to CJTF-HOA, turned over the newly constructed, 2,900-square-foot, Ali Oune Medical Clinic to Djibouti government officials, Jan. 31.
The 2,900-square-foot clinic, which the Seabees spent five months constructing, is intended to enhance the Ministry of Health for Djibouti’s ability to provide basic medical, birth and after care to the Ali Oune village and its more than 1,000 residents and rural neighbors.
